Proving Myself Right
Often we think of journaling as a way to blow off some steam and to write all of our deep, dark secrets, but what if we used those thoughts as a way to make us more productive? There are so many tools out there right now that encourage this perspective. One of my personal favorites is the Five Minute Journal, but it never quite captured the complex feelings that come with being a Caregiver/Educator/Youth Worker.
I'm embarking on this journey to make the right kind of journal for the people who spend their days and nights thinking about the young people and families in their programs and classrooms. We all know that we need reflection to learn, but how do you make the time and space for that kind of thinking?
This week, I shared this piece of my work with a group of 25 colleagues and it proved me right. In the field of education, we're all yearning for a quiet, introspective space where we can think, reflect, and plan. Now that it's been confirmed that there is a need for this, it's time to get working.
